Sebastian Herkner studied product design at Offenbach University of Art and Design, specialising in objects and furnishings in which different cultural contexts are merged and cutting-edge technology is blended with craftsmanship, to underline the multiform aesthetic appeal of reinvented materials and shapes.
While he was still a student, Herkner worked with the fashion designer Stella McCartney in London. It was an experience that helped to hone his sensitivity for materials, colours, structures and textures. Since he founded his studio in Offenbach am Main in 2006, he has designed for international companies, exhibitions and museums, while also working on a number of interior design schemes.
In addition, he lectures at Offenbach University of Art and Design and he has won many accolades, including the Newcomer award at the 2011 German Design Awards and the 2015 EDIDA Young Design Talent award, while also being named the Guest of Honour at Imm Cologne 2016.
